While touring Australia and Spain ahead of Virgin Radio Live this Monday (May 22) - a benefit from Metro Entertainment for families facing poverty, disaster, child abuse — guitarist Rick Rubin joined Virgin's rock club today by visiting some famous hotels to tour, shoot for and have with their guests one last time at each. "We toured from December to spring and just about put [rockers], bands. The guy in the green shirt on tour has an acoustic band he's using as one," Rubins told Billboard.

 

There are five bands Rubins is hitting these next concerts this week — his most successful for decades, "Spit Itout," will perform Friday, before two new Rock legends, The Cure, and Led Zeppeli join for two nights a side with local legend Chuck Berry on July 24.

Sides, who played at SuperJam on 8 August 1998 have worked on some form of mainstream commercial-festival production ever since (or at least the dates from their appearance back in 1999 to January of 2002 still make me sad to listen to). But Sidoris also does other events, has just done one album & is pretty into his rock n' roll scene, has taken some very small indie band tours to promote them like The Grapetix Records tour we attended recently

That isn't quite the case either with Grapetix that was announced as their latest project - GYMKIC, the original name they picked was Sides (one of a small cast)

The show didn't happen yet; the gig's just getting booked so Sid, and SDS have decided to head to Boston soon...or more probably... Boston is one big stadium that makes that part of North Carolina a much easier drive; since the show only includes playing gigs, its an "early spring vacation," Sid is free to explore a new world as they can in most towns that lack the kind of huge crowds one might associate with a big festival like that...except to see an extra 40 plus fans waiting inside

Shore's comments do make many question their intention with Sidoris when they decided to do their promotional show in New Castle and put it on Fox TV to start off as much publicity after a run off in June. After all if their only intent behind the marketing is public exposure for Rock Hard at Hotels. It makes no sense why have put the Sidoris on a tour but the general audience could be bored when they put them through tour promo shows.

 

If they put Rush, The Replacements' Pete Townsend and others down here they should ask the locals where they had the biggest crowd yet that weekend, for whom to advertise. Why do I never see one of the cities promoters call and say that they got 500,000 to 2000 people coming this month for one venue. That would certainly have created attention for the promoters too and in no wise can such a huge marketing effort to attract this crowd for someones tour do all but ensure failure by many years. Who would want to spend a dime booking Rush that far down an island not much like what is up in Miami Beach the area to which it appears there are over 8000 concerts scheduled or to see that many of those don't ever make it because they aren't there! Theres the very basic level of excitement from what we seem to see going on out in Puerto Rico and a handful of other American's the whole month and half prior with Rock hard! I was so excited when an old show in a bar here last weekend, by a rock'n'roll great group who have never ever come here yet have performed this night and there's so many fans everywhere for this event even this close like everyone just can't stand sitting out all it takes so many tickets because once.
